How We Work: Support Not Judgement

Let’s talk about the real work of HR consulting.

Yes, contracts and handbooks matter. But the work that actually keeps me up at night? The gritty stuff that business owners never saw coming when they started their dream.

Managing exits. Redundancies. Restructures. The emotional rollercoaster of selling a business. And don’t get me started on TUPE transfers - nobody goes into business thinking they’ll need to navigate that particular minefield.

This is where we earn our keep as HR consultants. Not in the neat, tidy policy documents, but in the messy, human complexity of actually managing people through difficult times.

What really gets to me is when I see other HR professionals looking down their noses at business owners who are struggling with these challenges. As if somehow they should have known better, or should instinctively handle these situations with grace.

That’s not our job. Our job isn’t to judge.

Our job is to be the backbone when everything feels like it’s falling apart. To guide business owners through processes they never wanted to learn about. To handle the conversations they’re dreading. To be steady when they can’t be.

Small business owners didn’t start their companies to become experts in employment law or to manage difficult departures. They started them because they had a vision, a product, a service they believed in.

When the human side of business gets complicated - and it always does - that’s when they need us most. Not judgment. Support.

That’s the real value we bring. Being there when it’s hard.
