Why I chose to specialise in SME HR support
Our founder, Emily’s story …
15 years ago, I was working as an employed HR consultant for a business that specialised in working with charities. Whilst I loved working with these organisations, they were often big more 'corporate' businesses that I felt I had little impact on.
Then I met Denise, who came to us needing support for her small business. I jumped at the chance to help her.
She was brilliant at her product, passionate about her team, but drowning in people issues. An employee grievance was consuming weeks of her time. She was Googling employment law at midnight. Her stress was affecting the whole business.
"I just want to focus on what I'm good at," she said. "But I can't ignore the people stuff."
That conversation changed my career direction. I went to my boss at the time and asked if I could focus on SME's - it wasn't to be, so I decided to set up on my own.
